Materials and craftsmanship
Most professional lash extensions are made from PBT, a thermoplastic fiber valued for curl memory, flexibility, and durability. Faux mink, silk, cashmere, flat, classic, volume, and mega volume lashes may all use PBT but differ in finish, taper, base shape, and intended application style.
A professional tray should be consistent. Every strip should match the label, and every lash should align in curl, length, diameter, and color. Inconsistent trays slow artists down and can make a finished set look uneven.

The right choice depends on the client natural lash strength, eye shape, lifestyle, and desired density. A professional should never choose length or thickness only for drama; weight must match the natural lash.
Adhesives and retention
Adhesive is the structural part of the set. Drying speed, viscosity, flexibility, room humidity, and artist speed all affect retention. A fast adhesive can be excellent for an advanced artist but frustrating for a beginner if it cures before placement is correct.
Clients should be told that retention also depends on aftercare. Oil-based products, rubbing, poor cleansing, and sleeping directly on the lashes can shorten the life of the set.
