Define the MOQ Level and Unit
SAP's Minimum Order Quantity Determination describes MOQ as an ordering constraint that can be maintained at receiving-location or supplying-location level and evaluated with units of measure. Oracle Retail supplier documentation shows supplier minimums that can use quantity, value and unit-of-measure fields.
For lash buyers, ask which level the number controls. “MOQ 100” might mean 100 trays across one family, 100 trays for each curl, 100 printed boxes, a minimum order value or a production batch. Without the noun, unit and level, the number cannot be compared.
Also separate minimum quantity from order increment. A supplier may accept at least 100 units but require subsequent quantities in multiples of 20. Packaging vendors may have different print or material increments from the lash product itself.

- State the unit of measure. Record trays, boxes, pairs, cases, labels, currency value or another exact unit.
- Lock the product specification. Keep curl, thickness, length, fan format, row count, fiber, finish and approved sample version visible.
- Separate packaging minimums. Record standard box, custom box, tray card, sleeve, label, insert and print setup constraints independently.
- Record quantity increments. Confirm case packs, production multiples, balanced length mixes and allowed split quantities.
- Compare with demand. Use forecast, launch horizon and channel commitments rather than dividing a total equally across every SKU.
- Calculate inventory exposure. Review landed cost, carrying cost, aging and obsolescence risk before accepting a price-break quantity.
- Preserve written terms. Put the applicable MOQ, validity date, exclusions, lead time and sample or artwork conditions in the quote and purchase order.

Assume a brand plans four lash tray SKUs with forecast demand of 120, 80, 50 and 30 units for the launch horizon. The supplier's product-family minimum is 300 trays, the per-SKU minimum is 50, and quantities must be ordered in multiples of 10. Standard tray cards are available, while custom printed boxes require 500 units.
A 300-tray product order can be allocated 130, 80, 50 and 40 only if every SKU meets the 50-unit minimum; the fourth SKU does not. The buyer could change the mix, delay the fourth SKU, use an approved standard package, or review another documented option. Ordering 500 custom boxes does not mean 500 finished lash trays must be produced immediately if packaging can be controlled separately, but storage, version and obsolescence rules must be clear.

Connect MOQ to Demand and Cost
Use the lash demand forecast and lash sell-through rate to justify the mix. Review lash safety stock separately so the MOQ is not mistaken for the correct buffer.
Calculate lash inventory carrying cost, lash inventory aging and lash landed cost before accepting a larger price-break tier. A lower unit price can be offset by capital, storage, obsolete packaging, slow SKUs or extra freight.
